New Haven - Sunday Sept 2

Today started badly with Sue having another migraine. The dining room was very busy anyway, so I took some bread back to the suite to toast in private. After lunch Sue came good, so we jumped in the car and headed for a winery. We took a wrong turn and were heading down route 1 before we took the 114 north to join the 34 on which we should have been. We took the 34 west to Derby, then crossed the Housatonic River to Shelton, then headed north up the 110, past the Indian Well State park before finding Jones' Winery near Monroe (see http://www.jonesfamilyfarms.com ).

The winery had quite a variety of styles, costing $6 for 7 tastes and we get to keep the glasses! Sue managed to convince the woman to provide her with only whites - dry and off-dry - while I stuck mostly to the dry reds (as usual). The flavours were mostly quite good, even though the alcohol content was low - 12.5% - 13.0%. We bought 3 bottles - the Pinot Gris, a Woodlands White and a Ripton Red.

We left and headed through Trumbull for Bridgeport where we had thought we might stop for dinner. However it was raining a bit, and as we did not know Bridgeport at all we decided to find the I-95 to New Haven. This took a couple of attempts, driving in increasing circles away from the train station. We eventually found the expressway and headed to New Haven, where we dined at the Malaysian Bentara again.
